Prefab pools in Varympompi and Thrakomakedones
Varympompi and Thrakomakedones spread across the foothills of Mount Parnitha, next to the Tatoi estate. Plots are large, with pine trees, and in Thrakomakedones, which sits higher up, winters are cold, some years with snow.
Since the 2021 wildfire many owners have been replanting their gardens, and pools are now designed with fire risk in mind.
What we watch for in Varympompi and Thrakomakedones
- Forest surroundings: many plots border forest land. Before the engineer's declaration is submitted, the engineer checks the forest maps, because they determine what is allowed on the plot.
- Felling trees: if a pine stands where the pool would go, cutting it down needs a permit from the relevant authority. That is why we first look for a spot where the trees can stay as they are.
- A zone free of dry grass: around the pool and the plant room, paving instead of grass keeps fire away from the electrical equipment and plastic pipes.

A pool is a significant water reserve. To use it, you need a pump that does not depend on mains power and a hose, and the options are discussed at the site survey. In any case, always follow the authorities' instructions first.
