Prefab overflow pools with an overflow channel
In an overflow pool, the water fills the pool right up to the edge and spills over on all sides at once.
In short: In an overflow pool the water rises to the edge and spills over on all sides into a perimeter channel with a grating about 25 cm wide. It collects in a balance tank, is filtered and returns to the pool. It gives a mirror of water level with the paving and suits pools over 60 m² and holiday accommodation.
How it works
An overflow channel runs around the whole pool, covered with a plastic or marble grating about 25 cm wide. The water spills over into the grating on every side, collects in a balance tank, is filtered and returns to the pool.
Why people choose it
- A mirror of water. The water sits at the same level as the paving around the pool.
- Lighting at night. With the lights on, the water surface acts like a mirror and the light spreads into the surrounding space.
- A greater sense of space. The pool looks bigger and more striking.
- A clean surface with many swimmers. Because the water spills over on all sides, the surface is cleaned all the time. That is why an overflow suits large pools and holiday accommodation.
Compared with a skimmer
The channel and the tank add work, so the skimmer pool remains the lower-cost choice. For pools over 60 m², an overflow is the better solution.
An overflow project
In Lagonisi, Attica, we built an overflow pool with glass panels. See our projects.
