Prefab pools in Penteli, Melissia and Vrilissia
Penteli is built on the slopes of the mountain, with sloping plots that look out over the Athens basin. Lower down, Melissia and Vrilissia are quiet, green neighbourhoods of detached houses and gardens.
Many of these houses were built decades ago, so the pool is added to a property that was not designed for one from the start.
What we watch for in Penteli, Melissia and Vrilissia
- Excavation and backfill on the slope: in Penteli, the soil dug out on the uphill side is used as backfill on the downhill side. The fill stays within 1 m in height, so the small-scale works approval still applies.
- Streams: streams run down from Penteli through the neighbourhoods. If the plot borders a stream, the engineer checks the required setbacks before the pool's position is fixed.
- Wiring in older houses: the pump and lighting need their own circuit from the electrical panel, with residual-current protection. With an old panel, the electrician checks whether an upgrade is needed.

Can the pool be connected to the electrical panel of an old house?
Usually yes, with a separate circuit and a residual-current device (RCD) for the pool equipment. The electrician checks that the panel and the power supply are sufficient before connecting.
