Prefab Pools in Samos

Samos is a mountainous, green island, with Mount Kerkis and Mount Ampelos, terraced vineyards and pine forests down to the sea.

The north coast, from Kokkari to Karlovasi, catches the north wind, while the south, with Pythagoreio, Ireo and Marathokampos, is warmer and more sheltered.

What we watch for on Samos

North or south: on the north coast the water warms up more slowly and the pool needs a spot sheltered from the wind. On the south coast the season is longer, and shade matters more for people sitting by the water.
A base on natural ground: the 2020 earthquake was a reminder that the island is earthquake-prone. The base the panels are anchored to is laid on natural, compacted ground, not on recent fill.
Vathy or Karlovasi: ferries from Piraeus call at both ports. We choose the one closest to the project to shorten the drive across the island.

The prefab pool we build

Questions

Does the water warm up faster in northern or southern Samos?

Usually in the south, which is more sheltered from the north wind. On the north coast, a sunny spot behind the house and a cover at night narrow the difference.
